Cowboy Action Shooting

Schedule

          The Cowboy Match is held on the Second Sunday of each month. The Lost River

           Range Gate is unlocked and open on scheduled Match days. Club Membership

           is not required to participate, Matches are open to the public  and visitors are welcome.

           Signup at 8:30, AM. A Pledge to the US Colors and the Shooters Meeting is at 9:00,

          with the Match starting immediately afterwards. Safety Eye and Ear protection

          is mandatory.

           Scoring is based on the time required to shoot Stages with time penalties added for missed 

           targets and failure to follow procedures, SASS Rules will apply.

           Match Fees are $6.00 per Shootist.

                      Things You Will Need:

             Dress the part with period Clothing and Hat from the 1860-1900 Era. Firearms required

             are two Single Action Revolvers, .32 cal or larger or Black Powder Percussion .36 cal or

             larger, original or replicas and Leather Holsters to safely retain and carry the Revolvers. 

          A Lever or Slide Action Rifle in Pistol Caliber of .25 or larger, with Iron Sights, tubular 

             Magazine and external Hammer. A Side-by-Side Shotgun of 20 Gauge or larger, with or

             without external Hammers and without auto ejectors. Pre-1900 Pump or Lever Shotguns

             with external Hammers are acceptable.

             Ammunition used must be all Lead Bullets, no gas checks or plated or jacketed ammo.

             Velocity of 1000 fps Max for Revolver and 1400 fps for the Rifle. No. 4 Max Shot size

             or smaller for the Shotgun, light loads, no Magnums.

             Bring 50 Rounds each for the Rifle and Revolvers and 25 Rounds for the Shotgun.
